The Clipper Race Festivities End and the Yachts Set Sail

Clipper Yachts at Ocean VillageFour days of Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2011 festivities came to an end today and the race itself has now begun. It was a fantastic day at Ocean Village. The sun shone and huge crowds arrived to enjoy the entertainment and say goodbye to the yachts before they set sail. For many it was also an emotional day as the families and friends of the participants gathered to say their farewells. The crowds cheered and ships in the marina sounded their whistles as each yacht slipped off of their moorings. There was a great party atmosphere.

We wish all of the participants an exciting and safe journey across the globe.

Here is a selection of pictures taken throughout the day.
